m2=8kg

u1=9m/s

u2=0 because body is at rest.

The coefficient of restitution , e=0.33

The coefficient of restitution 0<e<1 the collision is inelastic, linear momentum is conserved. Final velocity are same v

By the conservation of linear momentum.

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2

m1u1=(m1+m2)v

v=m1u1m1+m2

v=4×94+8

v=3m/s
