Let the direction of motion and velocity of particles after a collision are as shown,

Total momentum before explosion =0
Total momentum after explosion =2mv2mv1

By conservation of linear momentum
2mv2mv1=0
2mv1=2mvv1=v2

Total KE generated =2×12mv2+12(2m)v21
=mv2+mv22=32mv2
