A body of mass 5 kg is thrown vertically up from the ground with velocity 20 m/s. What will be its momentum just before hitting the ground? Take upward direction as positive.
The velocity of the ball just before hitting the ground will be equal to the initial velocity of the ball but in downwards direction.
So, Momentum P=mv
⇒P=5x(−20)=−100 Kg.m/s (negative sign indicates that the direction of velocity is downwards)
