Question

A body of mass 5 kg undergoes a change in speed from 30 m/s to 40m/s. Calculate the increase in its momentum?

Open in App
Solution

Mass of the body=5 kg
Initial velocity=30 m/s
Momentum= Mass x velocity
= 5 x 30
=150 kg-m/s
Final velocity = 40 m/s
Final momentum = Mass x Velocity
= 5 x 40
=200 kg-m/s
Hence increase in the momentum = Final momentum - initial momentum
= 200 - 150
=50kg-m/s
