Question

A body of mass 500 g . Initially at rest , is acted upon by a force which causes it to move a distance of 4m in 2s, calculate the force applied.

Open in App
Solution

Mass(m)=500g
initial velocity(u)=0m/s
time=2sec

final velocity(v) =displacement /time
v=4/2=2m/s

acceleration(a) = rate of change of velocity

a=2-0/2
a=1ms^-2

force=m×a
f=500×1
f=500gm.m.s^-2
F= 0.5kg ms^-2.
so F = 0.5 N
