Question

A body of mass of 60kg Is, moving with a speed of 50ms-1. Find its kinetic energy.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

  1. Mass of the body, m = 60 kg.
  2. Speed of the body, v = 50 m/s.

Step 2: Kinetic energy

  1. The total amount of work done to move a body from one place to another is called kinetic energy.
  2. Kinetic energy, Ek=12mv2, where m is the mass of the body and v is the speed of the body.
  3. For a rested body, kinetic energy is zero.

Step 3: Finding the kinetic energy

Let Ek be the kinetic energy of the body.

Now,

Ek=12×60×502=75000

Ek=75000J

The kinetic energy of the body is 75000 J.
