Initial velocity of moving mass u1=3 km/h

Initial velocity of stationary mass u2=0

Thus momentum of the system initially Pi=m1u1+m2u2

Pi=3m+0=3m

Let the velocity of coalesced mass be V.

Thus momentum of the system finally Pf=(m1+m2)V=3mV

Using conservation of linear momentum Pi=Pf

3m=3mV

V=1 km/h
