Question

A body starts from rest and moves with a constant acceleration of 6ms2.Calculate the distance covered by the body during 3rd second of its motion .

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

Initial velocity (u) = 0

Acceleration (a) = 6ms2

Need to find the distance covered by the body during 3rd second of its motion.

Step 2: Formula used

Distance travelled in the nth second = snth=u+a2(2n-1)

Step 3: Calculation for distance covered

Distance travelled in the nth second = snth=u+a2(2n-1)

n=3s

S3=0+62(2×3-1)S3=3(5)mS3=15m

Hence, distance covered by the body during 3rd second of its motion 15m.
