Solution

Dear Student,

Let,

ax : acceleration in x-direction = 6 ms-2ay : acceleration in y-direction = 8 ms-2Particle starts from rest, so initial velocity in x-direction ux and that in y-direction, uy are both zero.Then by kinematic equations: x = uxt + 12 axt2 ; andy = uyt + 12 ayt2Plug in above values in these equations with t = 4 sec. and getx = 48 m.y = 64 m.Now, distance from the origin in 4 sec is given by the resultant of x and y i.e.,s = (x2+y2) this gives, s = 80 m.
