A body travels along a straight level road. For the first half time, its speed v1 and for the second half time v2. What is the average speed ?What would be the average speed be if the first half distance covered with speed v1 and the second half distance is covered with speed v2?

Given,

First half time speed is V1 and the second half speed is V2

Let distance be 2d

For the first half t1=dV1

For the second half t2=dV2

So the total time is t=t1+t+2

=dV1+dV2

d(v1+v2V1V2)

Average speed is :

2dt1+t2

=2dd(V1+V2)V1V2

=2V1V2V1+V2
