A body weighs 60N on Earth. What will be its weight on the moon if the acceleration due to gravity on Moon's surface is g6? Takeg=10ms−2
Same in all directions
We know, weight of a body, W=mg
where m is the mass of the body and g is the acceleration gue to gravity.
So, mg=60N
⇒m=60g.
Now calculating weight of the body on moon :
Wm=m×gm, where gm is the acceleration due to gravity on moon.
gm=g6
∴Wm=m×g6
⇒Wm=60g×g6
⇒Wm=10N
