Question

A body whose volume is 100cm3 weighs 10 N in air, Find it weight in water.
(Take g=10 ms2, density of water =1000 kg m3)

Open in App
Solution

Given that,

Weight in air 10N

Volume of body V=100cm3

Density of water ρ=1000kg/m3

We know that,

Weight in water = weight in air – buoyancy force

Ww=10104×1000×10

Ww=101

Ww=9N

Hence, the weight of body in water is 9 N
