Given data,
mass=0.2kg
Uniform speed =5m/s
It hits the floor of the elevator (length of the elevator =5m)
g=10m/s2
h=5m
Since, the relative velocity of the both with respect to the lift is zero. at the time of impact, potential energy converted into heat energy.
Heat produced=loss potential energy
=mgh
=0.2×10×5
=50×210
=10J
The amount of heat produced by the impact is =10×2=20J
