Question

A bomb is dropped from a plane flying horizontally with uniform speed. Show that the bomb will explode vertically below the plane . Is the statement true if the plane files with the plane. speed but not horizontally?

Solution

The bomb follows horizontally projectile with same horizontal velocity
as the plane (due to Inertia), say V.
In horizontal direction neglecting air resistance, there is no external
force hence 'V' remains constant.
Relative horizontal speed b/w plane k minimize is = 0
Bomb falls vertically down from plane as observed.
If plane doesn't fly horizontal, then the relative velocity wouldn't
be O so statement doesn't hold is this case.
