Solution

The correct option is B

False

When a book is placed on a top of a table, the book exerts a force equal to its weight(W) on the table in the direction downwards and the table balances it by an equal force called the reaction(R) acting upwards on the book. According to Newton's third law of motion, To every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction.

So in this case, the action is Weight(W) of the book and the reaction is the Reaction force(R).

Hence, Newton's third law of motion is obeyed in this case.
