So,
Total weight $=3\frac{3}{4}+2\frac{1}{2}$

Total weight $=\frac{3\times 4+3}{4}+\frac{2\times 2+1}{2}$

$=\frac{12+3}{4}+\frac{4+1}{2}$

$=\frac{15}{4}+\frac{5}{2}$

$=\frac{15}{4}+\frac{10}{4}$ [Since LCM of $(2,4)=4$]

$=\frac{15+10}{4}=\frac{25}{4}$

Hence, the total weight of the iteams bought is equal to $\frac{25}{4}$ or $6\frac{1}{4}kg$.
