Solution

It is given that there are 5,00,000 medicine tablets in a box such that the weight of each tablet is 50 mg

This implies that the combined weight of 5,00,000 tablets is

5,00,000×50 mg=2,50,00,000 mg

It is required to express the above weight in grams and kilograms.

Note that, 1 gram=1000 mg

This implies that, 1 mg=11000 grams

This gives, 25,000,000 mg=25,000,0001000 grams=25,000 grams

Also, note that 1 kg=1000 grams

This implies that, 1 gram=11000 kg

This gives, 25,000 grams=25,0001000 kg=25 kg

Thus the required total weight of medicines in the box is 25,000 grams or 25 kg
