Solution

A box of 1Lcapacity is divided into two equal compartments by a thin partition which are filled with 2g H2 and 16g CH4 respectively. The pressure in each compartment is recorded as P atm. The total pressure when partition is removed will be P
In both the compartments, the volume, temperature, number of moles and pressure are same. When the partition is removed, the number of moles and the volume are doubled at constant temperature, the pressure remains constant. PV=nRT
