Question

A boy climbs a pole of 5m . On doing so he does a work of 5000J. Calculate his mass.

Open in App
Solution

Work done by a man by climbing a pole = W = 5000 Joules

Height from the ground = h = 5 metres

Gravitational acceleration = g = 10m/s2

Potential energy (EP) = Work done (W)
So,

EP = mgh

W = 10*m*5

5000 = 50*m

5000/50 = m

m = 100 kg

The mass of the man who has to do 5000 Joules of work by climbing a pole at a height of 5 metres is 100 kg

Thank you:)
