A boy contains 100 bolts and 50 nuts. It is given that 50% bolts and 50% nuts are rusted. Two objects are selected from the box at random. Find the probability that both are bolts or both are rusted.

Let A = Event of getting rusted item

B = Event of getting a bolt

AB = Event of getting a bolt which is rusted

Total no of items = 150

Total rusted items = 0.5(100)+0.5(50) = 75

P(A)=75C2100C2=75×74150×149=37149

P(B)=100C2150C2=100×99150×149=66149

P(AB)=50C2150C2=50×49150×149=49447

P (Getting both bolts on both rusted) = P(A)+P(B)P(AB) =260447=0.5816
