Question

A boy is holding a bucket filled with water above the ground level. Name the force acting on the plactic bucket . Why do the forces named by you not bring about change in the state of rest or motion of bucket ?

In this case, muscular force by our hand is acting in upward direction and the force of gravity on bucket is acting in downward direction. Both forces are acting in opposite directions to each other and hence nullify the effect of each other. Due to this, there is no change in the state of motion of the bucket.
