Question

A boy is standing at a distance of 4 metre in front of a mirror he moves to metre towards the mirror in which direction will the image move towards the mirror or away from it

Could you please check my answer

Ans . His image would also move to metre towards the mirror .thus the distance of the boy from the mirror and the image of the boy from the mirror would be 2 metres and the total distance of the boy from its image would be 4 metre

Answer is correct. The image formed in a plane mirror is as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of it, i.e. the distance between the object and the mirror (u) is the same as the distance between the mirror and the image (v).


u = v = 2 m

Distance between object (boy) and the image is u + v = 2m + 2m = 4m.
