A second boy stands on the ground 60 south of west from him. Find the frequency of the pulse as received by the second boy.

Given that
Speed of bike or source (vs)=6 m/s
Speed of sound (v)=338 m/s
Actual frequency (f0)=1005 Hz


From the definition of Doppler effect,

fapp=f0(v±vov±vs)
Here, velocity of observer
vo=0 m/s and
velocity of source along line joining source and observer
vs=vscosθ=6cos60=3 m/s

fapp=f0(vvvs)
Substituting the given data,
fapp=1005(3383383)=1014 Hz
