Solution

The correct option is C 13.5 km/h
Total time of travel =10 min+20 min=30 min
The average speed is 12 kmph
Using s=vt, the total distance covered in 30 min with given average speed is 12 kmph×30 min=12kmh×12h=6 km.
The distance covered in the first 10 min is
9 kmph×10 min=9kmh×16h=1.5 km
Thus, he has to cover 6 km1.5 km=4.5 km in the next 20 min.
The speed required is
4.5 km20 min=4.5 km(2060)h=13.5 kmph.
