A bucket is in a shape of a frustum, 40cm in diameter at the top and 28cm in diameter at the bottom. Find the cost of the tin sheet used in making the bucket, if the cost of tin is Rs.1.50 per sq dm.

The correct option is A Rs.44.25
Given:-
r1=20 cm,r2=14 cm and h=21 cm

If l is the slant height of the bucket then,
l=(r1r2)2+h2=(2014)2+212=62+212=36+441=477=21.84cm

Total surface area of the bucket (which is open at the top)
A=πl(r1+r2)+πr22
=π[(r1+r2)l+r22]
=227[(20+14)21.84+142]
=2949.76 cm2

1 dm2=100cm2

A=2949.7100
=29.497 dm2

Required cost of the tin sheet at the rate of Rs. 1.50 per sq. dm is

Cost=1.50×2949.76
=Rs.44.25
