Question

A bucket kept under a running tap is getting filled with water. A person sitting at a distance is able to get an idea when the bucket is about to be filled.

What causes the change in the sound?

1. When we placed a bucket under the running tap the level of water in the bucket increases, the length of the vibrating air column decreases, and the frequency is increased as well.

2. As the frequency is changing w.r.t. time, that causes changes in sound.
