A bullet of mass 7g is fired into a block of metal weighing 7kg. The block is free to move. After the impact the velocity of the bullet and block is 70m/s.what is the initial velocity of the bUllet?

Since no external force hence net momentum will be conserve.
m1 u1 + m2u2 = m1 v1 + m2v2 ( since final velocity of both particals are same hence v1 = v2 = v (let) = 70m/s
m1 u1 + m2u2 = (m1 +m2) v
.007u1 + 0 = (7 + .007)*70
u1 = 70070 m/s
