Let v is speed of combined mass just after collision. Then from conservation of linear momentum, we have
(M+m)v=mv0
v=mv0M+m
This is maximum speed of combined mass at mean position
v=ωA
or (mv0M+m)=(kM+m)A { ω=km}
A=mv0k(M+m)
