Mass of bullet m=10 g=0.01 kg and its initial velocity v=300 m/s
Mass of ice block M=5 kg
Initial speed of block v=0 m/s
Initially, momentum of the system pi=mu+Mv=(0.01)(300)+0=3 kg m/s
Let the speed of the bullet+ block system after the collision be V.
Finally, momentum of the system pf=(m+M)V=(0.01+5)V5V
Using conservation of linear momentum : pf=pi
5V=3
V=0.6 m/s=6 cm/s
