A bus starts from the stop and takes 50 seconds to attain the speed of 10 ms−1. If the mass of the bus along with the passengers is 10000 kg, calculate the net force acting on the bus to push it to the speed of 10 ms−1.
Given, initial velocity, u=0 ms−1, final velocity, v=10 ms−1 and time taken, t=50 s.
Let the force be F and acceleration be a.
We know that, F=ma and a=v−ut
∴ F=m(v−u)t=10000(10−0)50
⇒F=10000×15
⇒F=2000 N
Thus, the required force is 2000 N.
