[Atomic mass: S=32,O=16]

Open in App
Solution

Given information

320g of sulfur dioxide SO2

S.T.P

  • S.T.P indicates standard temperature and pressure
  • At S.T.P, one mole of a gas has a volume of 22.4L.

Calculation of molecular weight of SO2

Molecular weight of SO2

=S+2O=32+2×16g=64g

Calculation of volume occupied by SO2 at S.T.P

Since, 64g of SO2 occupies 22.4L volume at S.T.P.

Therefore, 320gof SO2 will occupy 22.464×320=112L volume at S.T.P.

Hence, the volume of 320g of SO2 at S.T.P. is 112L.
