Camels live in Africa and Asia. They can live in dry lands where there is little feed and water available. A camel uses approximately 20 liters of water a day in summer. However, it can lose up to 100 liters of water from its body tissues without ill effects. Most camels are one-humped although in northern areas where there are cold, dry lands two-humped camels are also found. It can be ascertained that the hump of a camel is not filled with water. The camel uses the fat stored in its hump when food is scarce.
