Question

A car accelerates uniformly from 18km h1 to 36km h1 in 5s.
Calculate (i) the acceleration and
(ii) the distance covered by the car at that time.

Open in App
Solution

Acceleration=Change in VelocityTime
Change in Velocity = 3618=18km/h=5m/s
Time=5 Seconds
Acceleration =55=1m/s2
Equation of motion can be given as:
s=ut+(12)at2
u=18km/h=5m/s
t=5s
a=1m/s2
s=(5×5)+(12×1×5×5)
s=25+12.5
s=37.5m
