Question

A car accelerates uniformly from 5m/s to 10m/s in 5 sec a. Calculate the acceleration b. The distance covered by the car in that time

Open in App
Solution

Its 37.5m

Using Newton's third equation of motion i.e.
v^2-u^2=2as

For this problem :

Final velocity (v) = 10 m/s

Initial velocity (u) = 5 m/s

Constant Acceleration (a) = ∆v/∆t = (10–5)/5

Hence a = 1 m/s²

Substituting these values in the equation :

10² - 5² = 2 *(1) s

75 = 2s
s=37.5
