Solution

Definition of kinetic energy

  1. Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body due to its motion.
  2. Kinetic energy (K.E) is given as, KE=12mv2, where m=mass and v=velocity.

Explaining which of the two bodies will have more K.E.

  1. If a car and a bike are running at the same speed, the car will have more kinetic energy.
  2. This is because kinetic directly depends upon mass and velocity.
  3. Since velocity is the same so we can say that kinetic energy will depend upon mass.
  4. Therefore the body with more mass will have higher kinetic energy.

Therefore, the car will have a greater K.E. as it is heavier than the bike.
