Solution

The correct option is A 24km/hr

Let the distance, AB=S

Speed for journey AB is v1=20 km/hr

Speed for journey BA is v2=30 km/hr

Time for distance S will be t=distancespeed

Time for journey AB is t1=Sv1=S20

Time for journey BA is t2=Sv2=S30

Total distance for AB then BB is

=AB+BA=S+S=2S

Total time for AB then BB is

=t1+t2

So average speed =Total distanceTotal time=2St1+t2

=2S(S20+S30)

=2S×20×30S×50

=24 km/hr
