Solution

The correct option is A 115m/s
The velocity of the first car

dudt=15 ms1=1500 cm1

The focal length of the mirror (f)=+20 cm

The object distance is (u)=2.8 m=280 cm

With the help of the mirror formula, we get-

1f=1v+1u

1v=1f1u

1v=1201280

1v=120+1280

1v=15280

We differentiate the mirror formula with respect to the time and get-

0=1v2.dvdt1u2.dudt

1v2.dvdt=1u2.dudt

(15280)2.dvdt=(1280)2.(1500)

225(280)2.dvdt=1(280)2.(1500)

dvdt=1500225 cms1

dvdt=150022500 ms1

dvdt=115 ms1

So, the correct option is option (B).
