A car is moving along a straight road at a steady speed. It travels 150 m in 5 seconds:

(a) What is its average speed?

(b) How far does it travel in 1 second ?

Distance traveled = 150 m

Time = 5 sec

(a)

We know,

Averagespeed=DistancetraveledTimetaken=1505=30 m/s

Hence the average speed =30 m/s

(b)

Distance traveled in 1 second = 1505=30m

Hence the distance traveled in 1 second is 30 m

(c)

Distance traveled in 6 seconds = 30×6=180m

Hence the distance traveled in 6 sec = 180 m

(d)

Time taken to travel 240 m

We know,

Time=DistanceSpeed=24030=8 sec

Hence car covers 240 m in 8 sec.
