Solution

Finding s1,s2,s3: 1 Mark
Final Answer: 1 Mark

Distance travelled in first hour, s1=speed×time=40 km/hr×1 hr=40 km

Distance travelled in next half an hour,s2=speed×time=60 km/hr×0.5 hr=30 km

Distance travelled in last hour, s3=speed×time=30 km/hr×1.5 hr=45 km

Thus, total distance travelled = s1+s2+s3=(40+30+45)km=115 km

Total time taken = 3 hours

Hence, average speed=Total DistanceTotal Time Taken=38.33 km/hr
