Solution

Given:
Car moves with a speed of 45 km/h for first 1 hour,
Car moves with a speed of 55 km/h for last 2 hours.
Let:
Distance covered by the car in first 1 hour with a speed of 45 km/h be L1,

Distance covered by the car in last 2 hours with a speed of 55 km/h be L2.

We know,
Speed = DistanceTime

As the speed is different in both the time intervals, we have to calculate the distance covered by the car in each interval and then sum it up to calculate the total distance covered by the car in 3 hours.

Total distance covered = L1 + L2
= (45×1) + (55×2) = 155 km

Therefore, the total distance covered by the car is 155 km.
