The correct option is A 8 m
For 1st case:
u=40 km/h=(40×518) m/s
From third equation of motion we have,
v2u2=2as
v2=u2+2as
0=(40×518)2+2a(2)
a=14(1009)2......(1)

For 2nd case:
u=80 km/h=(80×518) m/s
From third equation of motion we have,
v2=u2+2as
0=(80×518)2+2×a×s
2×a×s=(2009)2
2×14×(1009)2×s=(2009)2
on solving we get
s=8 m
