A car of mass 1000 kg travels at 12 m/s on a horizontal and the resistance to motion is 500 N. Find (c) the power developed by the engine.

Mass of the car is, m=1000kg

Velocity is, v=12m/s

Resistance (force) is, F=500N

Step 2: Calculating power

Power is given as,

P=Fv

where, F is force and v is velocity.

Substituting the known values, we get,

P=500N×12m/sP=6000WP=6.0kW

Therefore, the power developed by the engine is 6.0kW.
