Question

A car starts from rest and acceleration at 80m/s^2 for 20 minutes then comes to rest. Find the velocity and the distance covered before stopping

Given,
Initial velocity(u) = 0
Acceleration of the car(a) = 80 m/s²
Time of travel(t) = 20 minutes
= 20×60
= 1200 seconds

We know that,
v = u + at..... (equation of motion)

v = 0 + (80 × 1200)
v = 96,000 m/s...... Answer

Now,Distance travelled is equal to:
s = ut + (1/2)at²
= 0 + (1/2)×80×1200²
= 57,600,000 m
= 57,600 km.....Answer
