Question

A car with speed 60 km/hr takes 8 hours to travel same distance. What should be the increase in the speed if the same distance is to be covered in 712 hours?

Open in App
Solution

Given that:
v1=60 km/hr, t1=8 hr
v2=?, t1=152 hr
And traveled distance is d in both cases then
d=60×8 .....(1)
d=v2×152 .....(2)

By equation (1) and (2), we get
60×8=v2×152
v2=32×2
v2=64 km/hr

Hence, the speed of car should be increased by 4 km/hr to cover the same distance.
