A card is drawn at random from a pack of 52 playing cards. Find the probability of drawing a card which is neither a spade nor a king.

Dear Student,

Total number of possible outcomes = 52

In a pack of 52 cards contain 13 Spade and 4 Kings but 1 King is of Spade.

Total number of favourable outcomes = 13+4-1=16

Probability of getting either a Spade or a king= P(E)
= Nos of favourable outcome/Total nos of possible outcomes
=16/52
=4/13
Probability of getting neither a Spade nor a king
=1-Probability of getting either a Spade or a king
=1-(4/13)
=9/13
