A Card is drawn from a pack of 52 cards, so that each card is equally likely to be drawn from a pack. A is the event that the card drawn is of 'Spade' and B is the event, where the card drawn is an 'ace'. Explain whether the two events are independent.

Solution

If A and B are independent events, P(AB) should be equal to P(A)×P(B)
Here, P(A)=1352=14
P(B)=452=113
and P(AB)=152
P(AB)=P(A).P(B)
