Solution :

Let x be the amount

Original amount to be divide

between P and Q

$=\frac{3x}{8}\left(P\right)$ and $\frac{5x}{8}\left(Q\right)$

But the amount actually

divided was

$=\frac{2x}{5}\left(P\right)$ and $\frac{3x}{5}\left(Q\right)$

Hence, loss of $Q=\frac{5x}{8}-\frac{3x}{5}$

Accordinf to Ques,

$\frac{5x}{8}-\frac{3x}{5}=10$

$\Rightarrow \frac{25x-24x}{40}=10$ (Taking LCM)

$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{40}=10$

$\Rightarrow x=Rs.400$
