Question

A certain bicycle can go up a gentle incline with constant speed when the frictional force of ground pushing the rear wheel is F2=4N. If R1=5m and R2=30m, then what will be the force F1 with which the chain must pull on the sprocket wheel?

Solution

The correct option is B 24N
Speed given is constant so we get the net torque about the center is zero. Thus we have
F1×5=F2×30
We have F2=4N (This value of frictional force is given)
Thus we get F1=4×305=24N
