$\because$ x men can finish the job in 20 days.

$\therefore$(x-12) can do it in $\frac{20x}{x-12}$ days.

$\therefore \frac{20x}{x-12}=32$

$\Rightarrow 20x=32x-384$

$\Rightarrow 20x-32x=-384$

$\Rightarrow -12x=-384$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{-384}{-12}=32$
