A certain vehicle travels 24 km is one hours. At the same speed, how much distance does it cover in 20 minutes?

Open in App
Solution

Given:
Distance travelled by the vehicle in 1 hour = 24 km
We know:
1 hour = 60 min
∴ Distance travelled by the vehicle in 60 min = 24 km

Now,
Let the distance travelled by the vehicle in 20 minutes with the same speed be x km.

Here, speed is constant.
∴ Ratio of the times taken = Ratio of the distances travelled

60:20=24:x= 6020=24x= 60÷2020÷20=24x= 31=24x 24= 3×8 x=1×8=

Thus, the distance travelled by the vehicle in 20 minutes is 8 km.
